Jupiter is the northernmost town in Palm Beach County, sitting at the mouth of the Loxahatchee River, and it had 61,047 residents at the 2020 census, according to Wikipedia. It was incorporated in 1925. With the river, the inlet, and the ocean all close by, almost every neighborhood here has water, salt, or humidity working on the outside of a building.
We are based in West Palm Beach and travel north to provide pressure washing Jupiter homeowners and businesses can book, from roofs and driveways to waterfront patios. Request a free on site estimate and we will confirm the scope and price at your property.
Where the River Meets the Inlet
Jupiter sits at the mouth of the Loxahatchee River, and the Indian River Lagoon, which connects to the Intracoastal Waterway, reaches its southern end at Jupiter Inlet. That puts moisture and salt on more than one side of town. Salt carried on the wind leaves a hazy film on windows, screens, railings, and painted walls, and the constant dampness feeds algae and mildew on shaded surfaces.
Because growth comes back quickly when it is only rinsed away, we soft wash walls and roofs with low pressure and a cleaning solution. Our Soft Wash vs Pressure Wash guide explains when each method fits.
A Lighthouse Lesson in Humidity
The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, completed in 1860 and made of brick, was painted red in 1910 to cover discoloration caused by humidity, according to Wikipedia. In 2004, Hurricane Jeanne sandblasted the paint from the upper tower, and it was repainted with a potassium silicate mineral coating. The lighthouse has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973.
Two things are worth taking from that. Humidity has been staining Jupiter buildings for well over a century, so stucco, tile, and concrete stain here too. And force strips coatings, which is why we use low pressure on painted walls instead of blasting them.
Wet Summers, Dry Winters, and No Freeze
Jupiter has a tropical rainforest climate, with a dry, mild winter from November through April and a hot, wet summer from May through October, as Wikipedia describes. Daily thundershowers are common in summer, and frost is extremely rare. With no winter freeze to slow it down, algae gets very little break.
The dry months are a practical time to clean, since surfaces dry faster and stay clean longer before the rains return. See our guide to what pressure washing costs in West Palm Beach for rough numbers.
Waterfront Homes, Driveways, and Pool Areas
Waterfront and near water properties tend to have large patios, pool decks, and screened enclosures that stay damp. In Jupiter we most often clean:
- Driveways and sidewalks with algae, oil, and tire marks
- Pavers and patios, including pool decks and courtyards
- House and stucco walls with salt film and green growth
- Screen enclosures and fences
- Windows and gutters
- Wooden decks
Roofs Are Soft Washed, Not Pressure Washed
Black streaks on a Jupiter roof are algae, and they spread faster in a climate with almost no frost. The roofing industry group ARMA advises against power washers and brushes on shingle roofs and explains how algae discoloration works in its algae guidance. Our roof cleaning service uses a low pressure method instead.
Abacoa, Roger Dean Stadium, and Commercial Properties
Roger Dean Stadium in the Abacoa area hosts spring training for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, according to Wikipedia, and it brings visitors to the surrounding shops and restaurants. Storefronts, walkways, and entrances in busy areas collect dirt and grime quickly, and a clean frontage helps a business look open and cared for. See our commercial pressure washing page for how we handle them.
Preserves, Parks, and Shade
Jupiter has a lot of protected land, including the 271 acre Jupiter Ridge Natural Area of Florida scrub, marsh, swamp, and flatwoods. Homes near preserves and mature trees get extra shade, leaf litter, and pollen, and shade keeps surfaces damp longer. That is where green and black growth tends to start, so shaded walls, roof valleys, and north facing walkways are good places to check.
Nearby Areas We Serve
Along with Jupiter, we serve Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach to the south, and homes throughout West Palm Beach. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 according to the National Hurricane Center, so many owners clean roofs and gutters before it begins.
